As You Age, You Do Not Become a Lesser Version of Who You Used to Be

When I talk of my experiences working at the makeup counter, when women would come to me, desperate for some relief from the pain of feeling like they were losing their value, as though I were their last hope to have any chance at happiness - well, I am sometimes met with blank stares, as though the person wants to say "uh, isn't it just lipstick you were selling?"

Why We Don't Wear What We Love

When I first started working in the beauty industry, I was continually shocked to hear from women who would approach the counter, try something new, fall in love, and then stop the self-love train dead in its tracks: "Yeah I LOVE it. I just wouldn't be able to wear it to the office."

Whoa, I'd think to myself.  Why on earth wouldn't you let yourself wear something you love?

Who Defines Our Beauty?

As the new year begins, we may find ourselves contemplative about what we want in the year to come.  And often, this includes reflection about the person we are and the person we have been.  I believe that, for women, our relationship with our beauty is a big part of who we are, and I think that the new year is an ample opportunity to dig a little deeper into who and what define our beauty.
