Are you consistent?

Do you show up when you’re expected? Do you make time for people you care about? Do you chip away at large obstacles and make them smaller with each approach? Consistency is a crucial element of making positive things happen.

Or, are you a dabbler? Is your life full of half-finished books and games? Do you have a lot of half-finished plans for your next success? Do you say: one of these days, sometime, maybe, and I ought to?

Do you see a pattern here?

Consistency! If you are consistent in ignoring your health and nutrition then I bet you’ve become good at it. On the other hand, if you are consistent with your workouts and your eating plan, then I bet you are a healthy and energetic individual.

Consistency

There are no coincidences here. This is not an unsolvable mathematical equation, and this is not rocket science. Work at anything with consistency and you will be good at it.

If you make time to spend with your family every day, then I bet you are a good father, mother, daughter, or husband.

If you make time to play an instrument every day or sing every day, then I bet you are a good musician or singer, or at least getting noticeably better.

The superstars are the ones that consistently put in the extra effort to be where they are. Granted, some people are born with natural abilities and seem to have started a few paces ahead of everyone else. But, I guarantee that no one truly excels at anything until they put in the time and the effort.

Where am I in all of this? I’ve been working out 5 and 6 days a week for many years now. My health and fitness are important to me, and I feel that being really fit benefits every other aspect of my life. I’ve shown up consistently, put in the effort, and I am determined to continue to always do so.

Now I’ve decided to grow my website into my next career. I know inside that if I am consistent in my writing, learning, and effort, then my goals are attainable.

I’ve also discovered that in being consistent, following through, and finishing things I’ve started, other aspects of my life have improved as well. I’ve grown in my relationships and in my professional endeavors. My self-worth has increased and so has my confidence in myself to achieve things I set my mind to.

I’ve consistently pushed myself beyond what I was previously capable of, and I’ve grown tremendously as a trainer, a writer, a web designer, a boyfriend, and as a man.

I know I have a long way to go because I still don’t feel like I’ve reached my full potential. I have a feeling this will be a lifelong pursuit, but I’m ok with that.

I’m finding my edge!
