Everyone has an idea of what the best version of themselves looks like. What do you picture as the best version of you? Perhaps you're successful, fit, and attractive. Or maybe you're kind, compassionate, and giving. Not everyone will agree on the same ideas of what their best-manifested self is, but here are some suggestions that most people can agree on. 

1. Stay Organized

Nobody can be their best if they don't know where to begin. Organization is the key to successfully managing your life. Being organized involves forming good habits. Your habits should include picking up after yourself immediately after you finish a task. If you wait until later, you'll have completed other tasks and the work will have piled up. If you get in the habit of picking up right away, you'll never have another mess and everything will be placed where it belongs. Challenge: Try it for a day and see how it feels. 

2. Keep a Budget

There are many ways to keep a budget, but never keep your budget in your head. This will lead to fast failure. Managing money is how average people become successful. If you look around your house and you see a lot of "stuff," chances are you like to spend money. Do you really need everything you purchased in the last week? If you kept a budget, chances are that money spent on useless gadgets, redundant clothes, and extra space-filling items would have been saved for something that could actually improve your life. Challenge: After all your bills are paid, try to save back 10% of every paycheck in a savings account. 

3. Keep Learning

In order to continually improve, you need to also continually learn. Human life is a continually evolving process, and the latest research is always offering new ideas on self improvement. You can continue learning by adopting new hobbies, or continuing your education so you can be your best at your job. If you have a bachelor's degree in mathematics, but seem to be going nowhere in our career, consider pursuing a degree online master's in industrial engineering. Not only will you expand your knowledge, but you'll be better equipped to climb the career ladder in your workplace. Challenge: Learn a new skill, such as how to play guitar, bake a pie from scratch, or paint a landscape. 

4. Practice Good Self-Care

Before you can step out of the house and dazzle the world, you first have to focus on self-care. Self-care includes everything from diet and exercise to mental well-being. If you read regularly, chances are you know the importance of incorporating cardio activities into your daily routine. Start out with a 30-minute walk and see how your energy improves. Make weekly meal plans to ensure you buy healthy products when you grocery shop. Don't forget the fresh fruit and vegetables. Last, tend to your mental health by taking time to meditate. This will allow you to focus on your inner self while recharging you for the tasks that lie ahead. Challenge: Walk every day during your lunch break for one week. 

5. Be Giving

You don't have to be a philanthropist to be giving. You can be giving of your time or your knowledge. Some of the best ways to give are by listening. Be there when the people in your life are in need, and be there for strangers as well. If you see someone struggling with their automobile on the side of the road, pull over and ask how you can help. Sometimes just knowing someone cares can make all the difference.

If you have a few spare hours every week, donate your time to a charity. You can help organize shelves at your local charity thrift store, or walk dogs for the humane society. Think about your passions and how those can translate into helping out. Challenge: This weekend, box up your old clothes and give them to a local cause. 

7. Practice Kindness

Did you know the mood you reflect has the ability to make or break someone else's day? Human beings are empathetic by nature. That's why when someone else yawns, it causes you to yawn. If you show up to work grumpy and growl at the people who approach you, they're morning just got worse from being in your presence. Be cognizant of your ability to harm others with your attitude. The best way to make everyone's day better is to practice kindness. Even if you had a bad morning, if you care for other people, you don't want them to have a bad morning as well. Save your frustration for when you take your walk at lunch. You'll feel a lot better for releasing the steam in a positive way. Challenge: Do one nice thing for a different person every day this week, even if it's reaching out to someone you haven't spoken with in a while. 

8. Get a Good Night's Sleep

Nothing can throw you off track faster than not getting enough sleep. The average person needs at least seven hours of sleep per night. If you're running on six, chances are you're running on empty. To be your best self, you need energy, and to get energy, your body needs to rest. Studies show the most successful people and healthy people get adequate sleep. Challenge: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day for a week, and make sure you get your seven hours.
